Abhinav Shukla crying on BB14 is just one of the many things wrong with the reality show

Videos of Abhinav Shukla crying on BB14 has left everyone rather appalled, some viewers especially. Abhinav Shukla and Rubina Dilaik have somehow been on the wrong foot with host Salman Khan. None the less, there’s something that seems to be wrong with Bigg Boss 14 at so many levels.

For a reality show that drives on fights, drama, among other things, there sure are better ways to entertain. For those who might not know, Abhinav Shukla cried in BB14 after being slammed by Salman. All this was a result of Rakhi Sawant’s antics during one of the tasks this week. While both Abhinav and his wife Rubina is rather hurt, host Khan has a different logic to it.

While on one hand, we call people out for disrespecting women, on the other, we don’t let men speak up. It is absolutely visible how Khan’s judgement here is wrong at multiple levels. In fact, irrespective of his point of view, one must know where to draw the line on national television. If not for anything else, things should be dealt with in a better manner when someone feels uncomfortable. No means no is not just an expression for women. Expressing discomfort also implies discomfort, and Shukla has done so on multiple occasions.

Abhinav Shukla breaks down after conversation with Salman Khan:

It is sad just what all we allow to happen in the name of entertainment. Sharing clips of Abhinav Shukla crying in BB14, many have lent him support on Twitter. A Twitter trend of ‘Viewers with Abhinav’ has been doing the rounds on social media. Some of the tweets have outright slammed Salman. Meanwhile, some also have opposing points of view.

None the less, something that does not change anything is the fact that we must deal with men and women equally in such matters. Switch the gender roles and the entire episode would be called an assault. For people who speak so highly of feminism, good content, and similar things, this feels like a letdown.
