Did you know Ayushmann Khurrana was once told by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions that they only work with stars?

Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide at his Bandra home in Mumbai on June 14 and ever since everyone has been talking about the burning question ‘why’. While it is said that Sushant was feeling depressed and undergoing treatment for the same, there have been several speculations that Karan Johar, along with many renowned industry names, isolated the actor and banned him from work, which eventually led him to take such a drastic step.

Now amidst all this, an excerpt from Ayushmann Khurrana’s book, where the actor recalled Dharma Productions telling him they casted ‘only stars’, has been going viral. In the small part of the book Ayushmann recollected how he was to make his debut with Dharma Productions and revealed about his meeting with Karan Johar, who gave him a telephone number (his office number). However, when Ayushmann reached out to them, Dharma did not give a positive response and told him that they ‘only work with stars and thus cannot work with him.’

Ayushmann eventually made his debut with Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Vicky Donor’ and went on to win several accolades. Since then, he has come a long way and even bagged a National-Award for ‘AndhaDhun’. He recently featured in latest Amazon Prime release ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ with Amitabh Bachchan. Interestingly, Karan had called Ayushmann on previous season of ‘Koffee With Karan’.

As for Sushant, he was last seen in Netflix film ‘Drive’ which co-starred Jacqueline Fernandez and was produced by Karan Johar. He was to star in Dil Bechara’, the Hindi adaptation of ‘The Fault In Our Stars’. Now after his untimely demise, a lawyer on Wednesday filed a criminal complaint against 8 persons, including Salman Khan, Karan Johar, and others, in a Bihar court, alleging that they forced Sushant to commit suicide under a conspiracy which, he pleaded, amounted to murder.
