Films to watch with your moms to keep up the Mother’s Day spirit this week

The world celebrated International Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10 this year. While they deserve all the happiness in the world, there is no harm in taking the spirit of this day forward, isn’t it? The week has just begun and Mother’s Day ended too soon, so we thought we would curate a list of films to watch with moms this week.

We are all looking out for new content to watch given the ongoing lockdown, and there is no harm in having a readymade list of films. Before you fall short of options, let’s get you equipped with a fun watchlist for the week. The genre of the films here are universal, and it can be turned into a family movie night.

5 Films to watch with moms

Little Women

This is a classic film and chances are, your mother has read it to you when you were young. Mine sure did! The movie is an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s book and is directed by Greta Gerwig. Now why this has made it to our list of films to watch with moms is because it speaks highly of motherhood, while incorporating many other emotions, primarily of women, of course. The 2020 release has an ensemble cast and narrates the story of 4 sisters. Little Women manages to give away a lesson that is sure to stay with us forever.

The Sky Is Pink

The Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Farhan Akhtar starrer narrates the real-life story of Aisha Chaudhary. The movie is a heartfelt rom-com and sees Zaira Wasim as Aisha, narrate the love story of her parents. Over the due course of this journey, together, they face all the hurdles together, while trying to live their life and finding happiness in the smaller things. Mums get emotional soon, but they like it. We are definitely rooting this one from the list of films to watch with moms.

Mission Mangal

This movie is one of the finest for many reasons. With women leading the way, Akshay Kumar takes a backseat as together, they try to make ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Misson a success. It stars Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Vidya Balan, and Nithya Menen. The movie also turned out to be a commercial hit for how it narrates various stories with one. Everyone should add this to their list of films to watch with moms, now or later.

Definitely, Maybe

Ryan Reynolds’ character, Will Hayes narrates the story of his life before marriage to his daughter while he is in the middle of getting a divorce. He talks about how he met her mother and eventually fell in love with her. In the end, he reminisces all three women he romanced, however, changes their names. In the end, his daughter has to take a guess at who he eventually married.

Badhaai Ho

And finally, this out of the box Bollywood film went on to create quite the buzz. If you haven’t watched this film, you must, for the love of Neena Gupta. It also features Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra in the lead roles. How Nakul (Ayuhsmann) deals with the news of her mother Babli being pregnant is rather interesting. For the modern day mother, this fits right into the list of films to watch with moms.

Now that was a list of films to watch with moms ready, pick whichever you think fits the best. Or even better, watch one film each day and spend some quality mother-daughter/son time.
