The Indian web space has been growing manifold and we continue to produce some of the finest shows. Given the constant appreciation that OTT content in India has been receiving, just sometimes, we go ahead and boast of certain shows because they are home productions after all. However, over the last couple of years, we have also witnessed some overrated Indian web shows.
Much like the contrasting views about Kabir Singh, this list may also find people in disagreement. None the less, the idea of curating this list of overrated Indian web shows is not to bring them down. However, it is to simply highlight how they’ve overtly credited.
So, here’s our list of overrated Indian web shows:
Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat
Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar returned on the screens with this ALT Balaji show. While the hullaballoo around it was understandable, it was just another of those Ekta Kapoor shows. The streaming platform has some of the finest shows to its credit, this one isn’t as special. Hence, making it to the list of overrated Indian web shows.
Four More Shots Please!
Just because a show has made it to this list, does not in any way mean that they aren’t good. But, are they worth all the good reviews and praises? Maybe not. This is a show you might enjoy for its attempt at showing women through a variety of spectrums, each with a different character. However, we all know that we have seen better portrayals of flawed female characters in the past.
When I first saw the trailer of this Netflix show, I was mighty intrigued. Given the topic it dealt with, it felt too close to home. However, when you sit at it, it feels like a drag, and sadly, you do wish for it to get over sooner. None the less, not taking away the due credits that Indian web shows receive across all platforms.
Never Kiss Your Best Friend
Featuring Nakuul Mehta and Anya Singh in the leading roles, this book adaptation is sure to have your heart. However, if you come to think of it, this could have been just a movie. The performances are amazing and the narration is strong, the cliff-hanger is as predictable as it gets.
This Hotstar special is definitely a great watch and deserved the praises, but it has more ‘I knew it’ moments than those making you go ‘OMG!’ We often tend to judge movies and shows based on how they ended, because that is what we remember vividly. However, through its due course, we fell in love with all the characters, Kay Kay Menon’s performance especially. However, the unevenness that prevails is what makes this one of the overrated Indian web shows.
