Bollywood is not just goals for when we celebrate love, but also when we celebrate friends. While we definitely have some of the finest films, on Friendship Day today, we decided to send love to some on-screen friends. While not all of them are the main leads, most of the stories wouldn’t be anywhere without them.
As the day comes to end and we simply cherish a bond that has been forever, let us list down our favourites (not in that order, of course). From Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, we have friends of all kinds in here.
Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
For someone who has loved YJHD over the years, it feels good to break out of the rut, isn’t it? For people who can’t stop gushing over Naina and Bunny, Aditi is also a fund. In fact, if there is one person who put up with them all, it is her. And while it is not always the best feeling, she pulled it through happily, and amazingly.
Kabir (Abhay Deol) in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Once again, Kabir is the guy who managed to keep his now-estranged friends intact, and what a great job he did. The situations they were all in can get tricky. while we wouldn’t take a walk with people we fought, he pulled off an entire trip!
Shiva (Soham Majumdar) in Kabir Singh
Irrespective of all the judgments passed around the movie and the actor, Shiva was one underappreciated character. He is like that friend who manages to not only push you through but not even expect anything in return. Such selfless friendships are important and necessary. On a day like Friendship Day, these people must be celebrated!
Rancho (Aamir Khan) in 3 Idiots
Just how much we all fell in love with this character of AK, didn’t we? For people who have watched the movie time and again, this is a friend who counts. You know how there are people who slide into our lives to make it better, Phunsuk Wangdu turned out to be that.
Vijay Lakshmi (Lisa Haydon) in Queen
A much widely celebrated friendship, there is so much more to Vijay and Rani’s equation. There is this sense of wilderness and yet, peace. That conversation, the time well spent, it all counts for so much more than just letting it all go. Female friendships are important and what better than Friendship Day to celebrate them?
Rahul Kapoor (Imran Khan) in Ekk Main Aur Ek Tu
Another gem, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Imran’s equation in this movie is so cliche and yet, comforting. While we all know at least one person as Riana is, we have also been in Rahul’s place. But could anyone have pulled it off as well as he did? (Name one if you can!)
MC Sher (Siddhant Chaturvedi) in Gully Boy
And finally, one of the finest we have ever seen, much celebrated and continues to be. Siddhant is one gem and a friend we can all use, and in a list about Friendship Day, it is a sin to miss him out.
