Should we be asking how celebrities reacted to farmers protests, or how many of them reacted, instead? Bollywood, has always been far ahead in taking up social issues to their social media, and speak up. However, at this very moment, they may not be doing so, and there are no two ways about whether or not one should do it.
We live in a democracy, and so we have the freedom to speak up, but with that, also a moral responsibility. It takes on Sonu Sood, one Diljit Dosanjh, to simply put an issue on the map, and the people do the rest. While many have spoken up about the protest, and that means they simply stood up for a cause, don’t need to be given a medal for it. (Don’t mean to sound harsh, but cmon?)
Here’s a run-through of how celebrities reacted to farmers protests and who did:
Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crises is resolved sooner than later. https://t.co/PDOD0AIeFv

If you eat today, thank a farmer.
I stand in solidarity with every farmer in our country. #JaiKisaan

सबसे दुख की बात ये है कि ये जवान भी किसान का ही बेटा होगा! 😐😐😢😢 #FarmersDelhiProtest #FarmersProtests pic.twitter.com/Po7x4biCRz

Celebrities like Sunny Deol, also politicized the issue, only to defend his party. He wrote, ”I request the whole world that it is a matter between our farmers and the government. Do not come between them, because both will find a way after discussions. I know that many people want to take advantage of the situation and are creating problems. They are not thinking of farmers. They may have their own agenda.”
Diljit was among the first few to speak up, and he also got into a Twitter war with Kangana Ranaut. Among others, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, and others also reacted to the protests. While that does not have anything to do with how celebrities reacted to farmers protests, there’s more to do with how they should’ve spoken enough, and also earlier. The protests are a result of the three farm bills enacted by the centre earlier this year.
