Joji review: Fahadh Faasil shines yet again and yes it is a hattrick for him and Dileesh Pothan

REVIEW OVERVIEW

Joji
It isn't an outright retelling of the story, but draws certain inspiration from the play. Joji, played by FaFa, is the youngest son of a rich man. As he seems to have turned dark one event after the other, incidents of similar nature take place one after the other.

Fahadh Faasil and Dileesh Pothan have given two absolute hits – Maheshinte and Thondimuthalum. And well, while we waited for the movie, every fan did have some expectations from it. While we’ll take you through the Joji movie review, we sure can give you an absolute heads up to be prepared for an amazing watch.

Before getting to the Joji review, let’s understand the involvement of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. It isn’t an outright retelling of the story, but draws certain inspiration from the play. Joji, played by FaFa, is the youngest son of a rich man. As he seems to have turned dark one event after the other, incidents of similar nature take place one after the other.

Talk about the movie, and we know from the beginning what is it that we are signing up for. Every single character has grey shades to it, each different in its own sense. However, even with that, the movie does not feel rushed, yet, there isn’t a lot of time either. With great direction, impressive writing, we get great performances, thereby setting us up for a good film. You may feel it is too soon to say it, but there’s barely anything that feels wrong with the movie. Oh and wait, the Coronavirus situation has also been beautifully incorporated in the film. And in fact, it also plays out rather metaphorically, in multiple instances.

The cast of Joji also deserves a mention and also praise. Fahadh has managed to lead the movie and how. His role does make you wonder ‘is there anything that he can’t pull off?’ FilmCompanion, in an interview, rightly called him a pan Asian hero, and that holds absolutely true and how. Baburaj, is also a great addition to the Joji cast and it helps in building up the story better. For things to make sense in the end, the Joji cast is the biggest catalyst in doing it right.

If you ask us what the verdict for our Joji review would be, I’d say it is a must-watch. For those who aren’t drawn to movies like this, would know it isn’t for them in the beginning. However, for the love of everything that Joji stands for, you may not want to give it a miss.
