There’s absolutely no day that a nice binge-watch could possibly not make better. There’s something for every day – the sick ones, the sad ones, happy ones, and so on and so forth. If you are someone who enjoys chick flicks but is also a fan of reading literature classics, you might be in for a treat with Bridgerton on Netflix. And what better than spending your New Year’s Eve watching it, I ask!
After the kind of movie that Little Women turned out to be, I am glad that I watched this series as well. A friend of mine rightly pointed out how it is Jane Austen meets Gossip Girl, and she couldn’t have been more right. Now, if you have questions about the show, let’s brush you up on it a little.
Bridgerton on Netflix is so many things coming together, most importantly, a great story – even with other tools of drama. If that’s not enough, we have actor Rege Jean Page, and of course, there’s Phoebe Dynevor. The chemistry that these two bring together as Hastings and Daphne is totally lit. (I’ll use it even though it doesn’t suit the era we are talking about!)
Have a look at the trailer right here and fall in love a little before you are totally in love:
Unfortunately, the first season just has 8 episodes, but thankfully, they’re about an hour-long at least. Set in Regency London, the show is about a society that we have only read of, an era with everything different and classy. Before you mistake the show for just another show with a love story and some other things, it is the women in the show who also draw your attention – rightly so! Courtesy of Julia Quinn, we have gotten a beautiful story with Bridgerton on Netflix.
What goes through during the due course of the series might not feel relatable, but the feelings are. Even though everything is so different, it’s just about the same in more ways than one. Marriage is a pressing issue throughout the series, among other things that it also briefly highlights. But well, it all falls into place in the end and that’s just about how we want it to!
If you are a Gossip Girl fan who loves literature, this is it for you – the perfect show! I binge-watched Bridgerton on Netflix in one night, until 8 in the morning. Yes, that’s just how much I’ve come to love it. So if you’ve got no New Year’s Eve plans, you have one now!
