As Elliot Page announces he is transgender, he has taken the internet by waves. He took to his social media to share a heartfelt note about the same, while also speaking his heart. Popular for his role in June, The Umbrella Academy, among others, the Canadian actor announced the news yesterday. Earlier known as Ellen Page, he changed her name to Elliot Page.
In his post, he went on to start off with a short note expressing his gratitude, while also penning a note about everything he is feeling right now. He wrote, “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.”

Among other things, he expressed being happy, but also scared. He also wrote about the fact that discrimination exists, while also shedding light on privilege. He mentioned, ”I’m scared of the invasiveness, the hate, the “jokes” (sic) and of violence. The discrimination towards trans people is rife, insidious, and cruel, resulting in horrific consequences. In 2020 alone it has been reported that at least 40 transgender people have been murdered, the majority of which were Black and Latinx trans women.”
Well, the announcement was also a message to those who must hear it, and also a strong statement on what needs to be said. In fact, the actor’s profiles on social media have already undergone a name change as Elliot Page announces he is transgender. Many have lauded the actor, including the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, Hugh Jackman, and others. Ellan wrote, ”Sending love to my friend, @TheElliotPage. You inspire me with your strength, courage and honesty.”
