Twitter pays tribute to pregnant Kerala Elephant with heart wrenching artwork

Amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic that the world is dealing with, India woke up to another heartwrenching news. The killing of a pregnant Kerala Elephant rather inhumanely has left the world in shock. She was killed by feeding her a pineapple stuffed with powerful crackers. The crackers exploded in her mouth when she munched on it, thereby causing her death.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden Surendrakumar told PTI about the incident. He said that because her jaw was broke, she could not eat after the pineapple exploded in her mouth. He also confirmed that the intention behind this barbaric act was to eliminate her.

The unfortunate incident happened in near Silent Valley in Attappadi. The Kerala Elephant died in Malappuram district at Velliar river on May 27. The postmortem further revealed that she was pregnant. Mr Surendrakumar has directed officials to get hold of the culprit.

A forest officer, Mohan Krishnan, took to Facebook to post a rather heartfelt message as he narrated the tragic incident about the Elephant’s killing. The officer was responsible to get the elephant back to the shore. He wrote, “When we saw her she was standing in the river, with her head dipped in the water. She had a sixth sense that she was going to die. She took the Jalasamadhi in the river in a standing position.”
