One Year After JNU Attack, Netizens Raise Questions On ‘Komal Sharma’

Komal Sharma who was suspected as one of the goons who attacked the JNU campus is still not arrested. Why is that so?

On January 5, 2020, around 100 masked people armed with rods, sticks, and acid attacked the campus of JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) and injured more than 39 students and teachers. Eyewitnesses stated that police within the campus did not intervene to stop the mob.

A picture of the same had gone viral after the incident and one of them was identified as ‘Komal Sharma’. According to the Indian Express, Delhi Police said Komal Sharma is a student of Daulat Ram College and is a member of the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Further, even after her identification, Delhi Police have not arrested her to date.

According to Indian Express, Komal Sharma was questioned by a special investigation team of the Delhi Police Crime Branch in the second week of March 2020. However, Komal Sharma denied the claims and evidence against her and stated “That’s not me” and Delhi Police swallowed her words.

Today as we mark one year after the JNU violence, netizens have started raising questions on Komal Sharma’s arrest and JNU violence.
