PM Modi at RE-Invest 2020 Said, India Stands As The 4th Largest Country In The World In Renewable Power Capacity

PM Modi at RE-Invest 2020 on November 25 said India stands in the 4th place in the renewable power capacity as the nation has grown its installed renewable energy capacity in last 6 years.

In a speech, PM Modi said, “You would be happy to know that our annual renewable energy capacity addition has been exceeding that of coal-based thermal power since 2017. In the last 6 years, we increased our installed renewable energy capacity by two and half times.”

PM Modi at RE-Invest 2020 further added, “Today, India’s renewable power capacity is the 4th largest in the world. It is growing at the fastest speed among all major countries. The renewable energy capacity in India is currently 136 Giga Watts, which is about 36% of our total capacity.”

PM Modi in an online conference at the third Global Renewable Energy Investment Meeting and Expo (RE-Invest 2020) that was conducted for 3-days summit. The meet was arranged by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

Future Of Renewable Energy Capacity

Further in his speech, PM Modi mentioned about the next 10 year plans, about India’s renewable energy deployment. This might create massive business opportunities that may reach up to 20 billion dollars per annum.

“There are huge renewable energy deployment plans for the next decade,” PM Modi he further mentioned in the virtual conference.

PM Modi further added, “These are likely to generate business prospects of the order of around 20 billion dollars per year. I invite investors, developers and businesses to join India’s renewable energy journey.”

“Even when it was not affordable, we invested in renewable energy. Now our investment and scale are bringing costs down. We are showing to the world that sound environmental policies can also be sound economics,” PM Modi said.

The summit will talk about renewables energy and its future.
