Mark your calendars and hold your breaths as Netlfix has finally released the much-awaited trailer of The Crown Season 4, which starts streaming from November 15. To say the least, the highlight of the trailer is none other than late Princess Diana, played by Emma Corrin. While there is no clear shot of the ‘people’s princess’ face’, several iconic moments from her life as a Royal have been captured – from her 1981 royal wedding to Prince Charles to her 1983 royal tour of Australia, where she adorned a pink-polka dotted dress during one of the outings.
Coming to the sneak-peek, the trailer begins with Olivia Colman’s Queen Elizabeth, dressed in full royal military regalia, saying in a voiceover, “Something as important as the monarchy can simply not be allowed to fail.” But soon, it jumps to Lady Diana Spencer, who eventually becomes Princess Diana.
For the unversed, Season 3 of The Crown ended in the mid-1970s and focussed on Prince Charles’ relationship and subsequent breakup with Camilla Shand. Now with the latest clip, we are certain that the upcoming season will focus on his courtship with Diana, which ended up in their marriage. Interestingly, the trailer has solo shots of Princess Diana – from her walking out of her flat to face the paparazzi, staring out of her window to see the vast country expanse or her moment of greeting the fans. She does it all alone and it seems the show will also shed light on the isolation she felt like a royal, something she often talked about during her tenure as the Princess.

The trailer finally closes with Emma Corrin dressed as Princess Diana on her wedding day. The shot from behind features her David and Elizabeth Emanuel wedding outfit with a 153-yard veil as she is alone in Buckingham Palace, all set to walk the aisle. Certainly, the shot clearly lets the audience decipher that it’s no one but Princess Diana.
Meanwhile, apart from the new character of Princes Diana, Gillian Anderson has also joined The Crown Season 4 as Margaret Thatcher, the legendary British prime minister. Sadly, Emma Corrin won’t return after Season 4 as in The Crown’s final two seasons, Diana will be played by Elizabeth Debicki.
