Twitteratis enjoys a field day after accounts of Obama, Musk and Bezos get hacked!

In a piece of rather shocking news, the Twitter accounts of several high profile figures and corporations got hacked on Wednesday. The list includes former United States President Barack Obama, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Apple, among others.

According to a report by AFP, the hacking was done by scammers trying to dupe people into sending cryptocurrency bitcoin. As per the posts which appeared across multiple accounts in a matter of minutes, the scammers told people they had 30 minutes to send $1,000 in bitcoin in order to be sent back twice as much in return.

After the incident, Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s chief executive, claimed that it was tough day for the Twitter team, adding “We all feel terrible this happened.” He further mentioned in his tweet, “We’re diagnosing and will share everything we can when we have a more complete understanding of exactly what happened.” The organization claimed it was aware of “a security incident” and “taking steps to fix it”, albeit no further details were provided.

Meanwhile, Twitteratis had a lot of jokes to share and they certainly had a field day. Check out some of them here:

Apart from the aforementioned, the list of hacked accounts includes those of rapper Kanye West, reality television show star Kim Kardashian, businessman Michael Bloomberg, and Uber.
