Abdul Alim, presently a Software Development Engineer at Zoho, has a story to tell, and it is a story like no other. Abdul’s journey in life teaches us that if you are willing to learn and succeed, no force can ever stop you.

Abdul Alim, who had studied only till 10th standard, left home in 2013 with only Rs. 1,000 in his pocket. He secured a job at the security desk of a company. 

Abdul narrated his incredible story in a post on LinkedIn, and it has since then gone viral. 

“One day, one of the senior employees  of the company, asked my name and said – Alim, I can see something in your eyes (sounds filmy I know). He asked me about my studies and my computer knowledge,” Abdul wrote in his Instagram post.

Abdul had learnt a little bit of HTML in school. His journey began again after the employee asked him if he was willing to learn more.

Abdul completed his 12-hour long security shift and went to take lessons from the senior, every day.

“About after eight months, I created a small app. An app that takes the user input and visualizes it. The senior employee showed the app to his manager and he liked it. He asked if it is possible to interview me,” Abdul wrote.

“I thought I will not be interviewed ever because I did not go to any college and studied only will 10th. He told that in Zoho You don’t need a college degree, What matters here is you and your skills,” he added.

When the day came, he sat for the interview and passed it successfully. He has now completed eight years at Zoho Corporation.

“I want to thank Shibu Alexis (the senior employee) for all the knowledge and lessons and Zoho Corporation for allowing me to prove myself,” Abdul said.

He concluded by saying: “And on the final note, It is never too late to start learning.“
