The inaugural flight of a domestic airlines deputed an all-woman crew to touch down at the newly built airport in Bareilly, marking International Women’s Day with glory on Monday, March 8.
The maiden flight was flagged off by Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, and was manned by Captain Poonam Yadav. It brought Union Minister and MP from Bareilly Santosh Gangwar from Delhi to his constituency, reported The New Indian Express.
There, a warm welcome by state civil aviation minister Nand Gopal Nandi awaaited.
The all-woman crew ATR-72 plane, boarded by Gangwar at Delhi at 9 am and the 72-seater plane, landed at the Bareilly airport. They were met by a water cannon salute for the new air service and the all-women crew members.
The airport has now been upgraded for commercial flight operations under the Regional Connectivity Scheme-Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN). Â
