Dancer performs splits, backflips, headstands in saree; netizens amazed

Dancer Rukmini Vijayakumar took to Instagram to share a video where she is seen performing splits, backflips and more with expert ease.

Social media is in awe after dancer Rukmini Vijayakumar took to Instagram to share a video where she is seen performing splits, backflips and more with expert ease — in a saree!

The video, titled ‘Namami Yoga-Vidye’, shows Vijayakumar practicing for a longer dance routine which she shared on the occasion of World Yoga Day last year.

In the video, dancer Vijayakumar performs stunts that are extremely difficult to pull off even in the most comfortable of clothes — splits, headstands, backflips and more — in a saree. She, however, looks perfectly at ease while performing the stunts.

“The things we can do in a well draped saree,” she wrote while sharing the video.”All the clips are ‘behind the scenes’ ….from the video that I directed last year for World Yoga Day,” she added.

Since being shared recently, the video has garnered over 6.5 lakh views on the photo and video sharing platform. There are also thousands of ‘likes’ and comments.

“This is amazing,” wrote one Instagram user.

“Incredible,” said another.

“Wow. Please make a video on how you drape a saree this way,” a viewer requested.
