An Odisha school student recently took to Twitter to draw the state transport department’s attention to how the changed timings of bus services is leading to him reaching school late every day.
The student, named Sai Anwesh Amrutam Pradhan, is from Bhubaneswar and studies in MBS Public School. He addressed his complaint to IPS officer Arun Bothra, Managing Director of the Capital Region Urban Transport Bhubaneswar (CRUT) on Twitter. Anwesh took the ‘MoBus’ to get to school every day.
The Odisha student’s school began at 7:30 AM, but the first bus route to his school was available only at 7:40 am, and the timings made him reach school late every day.
His tweet soon became viral and was widely circulated. Finally, the state transport department changed the timings of the state-run ‘MoBus’ so that he could reach school on time.
Anwesh, taking to Twitter, urged both CRUT and Bothra to look into the matter.
“Respected Sir, I want to state that I am a student of MBS public school, Bhubaneswar. I use Mo Bus as my daily transportation means to go to school. Nowadays the timing of the buses are changed,” he wrote on Twitter.

“My reporting time at school is sharp at 7:30 AM. But unfortunately the first bus of route no-13 leaves at 7:40 AM from Lingipur. As a result I will be late for my school. And for this reason I am facing a lot of problems,” Anwesh further wrote.

The state transport department’s prompt response and assistance to the child was appreciated by many on Twitter. Several people took to Twitter to praise CRUT — formed under the Odisha government’s Housing and Urban Development Department and a special purpose vehicle unit — for its service to the public.
Wow. Such responsive public service is rare. Thank you 🙏

Well done! Wish more govt agencies around the country could place the needs of the common man above mundane bureaucratic red tape and apathy

If welfare decisions are taken like this at each level of the Government, we will be a much better country.
