In an act of kindness and compassion, an Uttar Pradesh (UP) couple took out time on their wedding day to save the life of a young girl by donating blood for her.
Uttar Pradesh Police cop Ashish Mishra shared details of the incident on Twitter. The act was possible because of Mishra’s ‘Police Mitra’ initiative to connect blood donors with people in need. In 2017, Mishra started the Police Mitra initiative to save the lives of patients by connecting them to blood donors.
Appreciating a couple in a Twitter post, Mishra shared a picture of the newlyweds while donating blood — still dressed in their wedding finery. In the picture, the woman stands in a lehenga beside the man, while he donates blood.
“My India is great,” the cop wrote in Hindi, explaining that a young girl was in need of a blood donor, but nobody stepped up to help her “because she was someone else’s child.”

The UP couple got to know about this and immediately decided on donating blood for the young girl.
“On their own wedding day, the couple donated blood to save the girl’s life,” Mishra wrote on Twitter.
Twitter showered praises on the couple for their thoughtful act.
“Big salute.. God bless the newly wed couple,” wrote one Twitter user.
“Great work,” another wrote.
In a world full of injustice and cruelty, people like this couple restore our faith in humanity.
