Recently, Netflix just announced the free weekend stream which will be on the 5th and 6th of December. To promote this Streamfest Netflix launched a number of advertisements where you can see Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anil Kapoor, and Actress Yami Gautam promoting it.
But as you all know Netflix is popular for its content. When it comes to making and promoting excellent content, Netflix is the king of all platforms. So taking it one step further and convincing the audience to watch ‘only’ Netflix, the ott platform has launched a new advertisement.

The title of the advertisement says, Why Did Netflix Do This To Us?? In the advertisement, you can see some of the popular YouTubers such as Ashish Chanchlani, Tanmay Bhatt, Kusha Kapila, Slayy Point, Mythpat, Ahsaas Channa, Nikhil Kinni complaining about the streamfest offered by Netflix. But little did you know, amidst all the complaining, Netflix covered all the content one can watch on Netflix.
Well, one of the highlights in the advertisement is that Netflix is not just promoting their streamfest but also making sure that no other platform follows them in the race. Yes, that’s right! Nikhil Kini who is the host of show ‘Menu Please’ mentions that during this free stream on the weekend no Youtuber is going to put out any new Content on Youtube. So that’s a Win-Win for Netflix.
Why is Netflix offering free stream?
“We think that giving away everyone in a country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, the service and how it works,” Greg Peters, COO and Chief Product Officer at Netflix
“At Netflix, we want to bring the most amazing stories from across the world to all fans of entertainment in India. It’s why we’re hosting StreamFest: an entire weekend of free Netflix,” the company said in a statement.
Having said that, the primary reason for this free stream could be competition between OTT platforms or to empathize on ‘Netflix and Chill during the quarantine’. The competitive environment on OTT platforms has been growing day by day. Recently, one of the hit web series, Mirzapur on amazon prime has reached up to 119.84 Million viewership. But according to Google, scam 1992 by Sony Liv is on the top of the chart when it comes to viewership and popularity.
