We Stand With Aamir Khan vs Boycott Aamir Khan: Netizens stand divided but must they have an opinion?

-

Currently, We Stand With Aamir Khan and Boycott Aamir Khan are trending on social media, and it raises so many questions. Read on Platocast.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced divorce on July 4, 2021 in a joint statement. The statement mentioned how they’ve been working on it for a while and are now comfortable making the announcement. It did not take a lot of time for netizens to form opinions, and today, they continue to be as fiddle as ever. As of now, the actor is trending on Twitter with hashtags ‘we stand with Aamir Khan’ and ‘boycott Aamir Khan’.

The two released a statement and their job as public figures was supposed to be done. However, it did not stop there and continues to go on. What is even worse is they issued a clarification in a video statement today, citing that they are still family. In addition, Aamir Khan mentioned that Paani Foundation is like their son Azad. Hence, they will continue to work on it. While one can reason with that, why must an actor be banned or even required to seek approval regarding his personal life?

The kind people of the internet decided to trend ‘We support Aamir Khan’ and immediately came another hashtag, ‘boycott Aamir Khan’. People go into relationships and get out of relationships according to their free will. Unless the parties involved have a problem with what is happening, why must the others question? In fact, why must they also be the ones to give their stamp of approval.

Check out some of the tweets on ‘we stand with Aamir Khan’ and ‘boycott Aamir Khan’ here:

We as a society have come a long way, but some things just don’t change. We call for boycotts on films and actors based on their religion, we fail to appreciate talent because of where it comes from, and so on and so forth. However, can we not let some things just be? Should we not let those things just be?

Often, everyone speaks their minds not taking into account whether it is their place to speak. As an actor, we can talk about his films, as filmmakers, we can criticize their work, but why must anyone lay personal attacks? Social media is supposed to blur the lines between fans and their favourites. However, it seems to be doing something totally different.
